Daniel Sturridge insists he does not want to be eased back into the fold at Liverpool following his return from injury.
The striker scored in Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Burnley on Wednesday night after starting only his second Premier League game since coming back from a thigh injury.
With Liverpool hitting form prior to his return, Brendan Rodgers has left the England striker on the bench in recent weeks, but Sturridge insists he wants to be thrown into action.
“I feel good since I’ve come back, ready to play every game,” he said. “I don’t want to be eased in but I suppose with everything they want to ease me in.
“But I want to play every game.”
Jordan Henderson, who scored one and set up Sturridge’s goal, praised his team-mate’s performance at Anfield.
“It’s amazing to have him back. His movement is great, he held the ball up outstandingly and his finish, well, he’s always a threat in the area.”
