Sky Sports News HQ's Rob Wotton looks back over another action-packed week on the Morning View.
From United’s demolition derby to Barca’s bashing of PSG. It’s been another blockbuster week on The Morning View. Stand by for an emotional Brian McDermott and Michael Duberry threatening to get all WWE! But we start with….
ANGEL OF THE WEEK
The Morning View on Monday saw all the fallout from the Manchester derby. Steve Howey understandably downbeat after his former side City were beaten at Old Trafford. While Juan Mata and Marouane Fellaini stole the headlines for United, Louis Van Gaal’s big name summer signings Radamel Falcao, Marcos Rojo and Angel Di Maria all started on the bench. But former Old Trafford Assistant Manager Steve Round believes the future’s still bright for some of them, in particular Di Maria.
RULE OF THE WEEK
The “Rooney Rule” was high on the agenda this week. The American law was introduced to the NFL with the aim of encouraging more black and ethnic minority players to start a coaching career. The law ensures that on every coaching shortlist in American Football at least one candidate must be black or from an ethnic minority. Les Ferdinand has suggested that it should be introduced into English football and Brian Deane, speaking on The Morning View, agrees to a point
REGRET OF THE WEEK
Wednesday saw Brian McDermott join Neil McCann on The Morning View. Despite taking Leeds to as high as fifth in the Championship, Brian was forced out of the club last summer after just over a year in charge. He’s currently working as a scout for Arsenal but insists his heart is still at Elland Road.
TACTIC OF THE WEEK
Barcelona put on a show at the Parc Des Princes this week as they saw off PSG 3-1. Luis Suarez scored two and tore David Luiz apart with a few nutmegs. Lionel Messi has also hit the headlines this season with the same trick against Manchester City. But who has mastered “The Meg” the best, Messi or Suarez? The Morning View put that question to Michael Duberry and Tony Cottee.
More foul means than fair!!!
The Morning View is back on Monday. Will Chelsea have taken a huge step towards the title? Or will it be game on for Manchester United? That and plenty more to discuss with the likes of Stuart Pearce, Clinton Morrison, Alan Curbishley, Gerry Francis, Shaun Derry, Tony Gale, Ray Parlour and Tony Cascarino. So join us every weekday morning from 10am or you can catch up On Demand.
