Bournemouth will not change the way they play in the Premier League next season, says the club's former manager Harry Redknapp.

Eddie Howe’s side effectively won promotion to the Premier League - barring a massive defeat at Charlton Athletic on Saturday and a big win for Middlesbrough - for the first time in their history after beating Bolton Wanderers 3-0 at the Goldsands Stadium.

And Redknapp, who managed the club between 1983 and 1992, thinks Bournemouth will continue playing an attacking brand of football in their debut campaign in the Premier League next season.

“I am sure Eddie will play the same way,” said Redknapp, watching the game for Sky Sports. “He will attack teams and play with two wide men, he loves width. The two full-backs, who have been outstanding this season, will continue to get forward.”

Redknapp went on to praise the culture Howe has fostered at the club, saying: "This is his club, he's got a lovely way about him, he encourages them to play football and not just boot it up the pitch.

"They've bought into his ideas and I think, you can't speak highly enough of him. He's a quiet man, a quiet lad. I live here and you never hear anything bad about the players. No-one says a bad word, they're a pleasure."

And the ex-West Ham United, Portsmouth, Southampton, Tottenham Hotspur and Queens Park Rangers boss went on to claim Howe, 37, should now be made “Lord Mayor of Bournemouth” for guiding the club to the Premier League.

"Eddie deserves to be the Lord Mayor or something," said Redknapp. "It's fantastic, thoroughly deserved. They've been amazing all year and the football they produced tonight, they have produced all year.

Redknapp had 464 games in charge of the Cherries and could not hide his delight.

"I'm very happy," he added. "Everybody has played a great part, the owner has put the money in, the chairman, the chief exec... Eddie has done an amazing job. A fantastic manager.

"This is the best team in the history of Bournemouth."
