Struggling Oxford shocked Sky Bet League One leaders Portsmouth with a 2-1 victory at the Kassam Stadium.
It was Oxford's first win in eight games in all competitions, and a second successive league defeat for Pompey.
First-half goals from Cameron Brannagan and James Henry, his 13th of the season, put the hosts in charge.
Portsmouth got back into the match with a superb scissor-kick by substitute Brett Pitman from Lou Dennis' cross after 64 minutes - but they could not make late pressure count.
Oxford went ahead in the 25th minute with a right-footed strike from 20 yards by Brannagan - his sixth goal of the campaign - from Jordan Graham's pass.
Set-pieces were a threat for United, with Rob Dickie heading wide from a corner, and Curtis Nelson rising high to meet Brannagan's free-kick with a header that Craig MacGillivray saved high to his left.
Henry doubled Oxford's lead on the stroke of half-time, rifling the ball high into the net after Jamie Mackie held up Graham's cross in the box.
