Hibernian eased into the semi-finals of the League Cup after a convincing 3-0 victory over Ross County in Dingwall.

The draw threw up memories of cup wins in both 2010 and memorably in the 2016 final for the League One side, but there was to be no such celebration in the Highlands this time.

Two goals inside the opening 14 minutes from Thibault Klidje and Adam Mayor put David Gray's side firmly in control.

Ante Suto added a third six minutes before half-time to all but put the tie beyond doubt. The Staggies by no means disgraced themselves, but they never truly looked like mounting a comeback as Hibs comfortably saw out the contest.

A lively opening saw the two sides go toe-to-toe, but it was the visitors who struck first in the seventh minute. Klidje rose highest in the County box to send a header into the bottom corner.

The visitors were handed a golden opportunity to double their advantage seven minutes later when they were awarded a penalty.

Akil Wright was adjudged to have pulled down Jason Kerr from a Felix Passlack corner, and full-back Mayor made no mistake from the spot.

Suto went close to adding a third when he stooped to meet Jack Iredale's low cross, but his header flew narrowly over the bar. The same player then forced a good save from Brad Foster, who got down smartly to his left.

There was a third before the break, with some excellent interplay between Josh Mulligan and Callum Wright in the middle of the park eventually creating the opening for Suto to find the back of the net.

County attempted to change the game after the restart, including switching to a back three, but it was still the visitors who fashioned the better opportunities. Kerr headed over from another dangerous set-piece delivery.

Crosses continued to cause problems for the Staggies, with Mayor picking out Nathan Lowe with just under 15 minutes remaining, only for the Hibs substitute to fire wide.

There was to be no late consolation for the home supporters, however, as Hibernian comfortably saw out the closing stages to book their place in the semi-finals.

Aberdeen beat Kilmarnock on penalties to reach last four

Aberdeen boss Stephen Robinson enjoyed a huge result as his 10-man side reached the Premier Sports Cup semi-finals with a dramatic penalty shootout win over Kilmarnock.

After four league games without a goal, pressure had mounted on Robinson, but Aberdeen looked set for more misery when Tyreece John-Jules cancelled out Kevin Nisbet's opener after Daniel Happe was sent off.

The Dons held firm to force extra time, where they missed several chances to win before prevailing on penalties.

Keeper Marius Muller saved from John-Jules, Mark O'Hara and Aaron Tshibola before Jack Milne sealed a 3-1 shootout triumph.

Aberdeen fans spilled on to the pitch to celebrate joining Hearts and Hibernian in the semi-finals, while Kilmarnock supporters vented their frustration at a result which increased pressure on boss Neil McCann.

Nisbet had headed Connor Ronan's cross beyond Max Stryjek to give Aberdeen the lead, before Happe's dismissal was followed by John-Jules' equaliser.
