England drawn with Scotland at UEFA Euro 2017 Women's Championships

England and Scotland have been paired together at UEFA Women's Euro 2017 and will contest the opening match of Group D in Utrecht on July 19.

Scotland are making their first appearance at a major tournament but they are not the only debutants in the group, with fellow first-timers Portugal also drawn in Group D, with Iberian rivals Spain completing the line-up.

Eight-time European winners and reigning champions Germany have been paired with 1984 winners Sweden. The two sides also met in the final of the 2016 Olympic women's football tournament in Rio, with Germany running out 2-1 winners. Italy and Russia complete the line-up in Group B.

Host nation the Netherlands will face two-time winners and 2013 beaten finalists Norway in the opening match of the tournament in Utrecht on July 16. Belgium, who held England to a draw during qualifying are also in Group A along with Denmark.

France - ranked third in the FIFA rankings - have been pitted against Iceland, Austria and Switzerland in Group C.

The 2017 UEFA Women's Euro 2017 finals features 16 teams for the very first time. The final will be played at FC Twente's 30,000 capacity stadium in Enschede on August 6.

Group A: Netherlands, Norway, Denmark, Belgium.

Group B: Germany, Sweden, Italy, Russia.

Group C: France, Iceland, Austria, Switzerland.

Group D: England, Scotland, Spain, Portugal.
