Barcelona v Lyon preview

Lyon will be hoping to spring a major surprise in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League tie.

Tie in the balance at 1-1 following first leg

Lyon will be hoping to spring a major surprise when they head to Camp Nou for the second leg of their UEFA Champions League tie. The French side turned in a fine performance at Stade Gerland a fortnight ago to hold Barcelona to a 1-1 draw, with Juninho's clever free-kick cancelled out by a Thierry Henry header. Barca will be confident of finishing the job on home soil, although Pep Guardiola's side have had something of a wobble in recent weeks. They have lost two of their last three Primera Liga matches and now only lead Real Madrid by six points with 12 games remaining. Guardiola has promised to adopt a positive approach as he is wary of conceding free-kicks with Juninho in the Lyon line-up. "Juninho is a massive danger at set-pieces because some of his free-kicks are impossible to defend against," said Guardiola. "He has all the time in the world to decide where to put the ball and enough talent to pull it off. We have to be smart and not give away fouls in the last third of the pitch. "Now I expect my team to push Lyon back, create more chances and score. The best way to defend is to attack well." Andres Iniesta is set to make his first Champions League appearance since November after recovering from a thigh injury, but Carles Puyol has an ankle problem and Gabriel Milito and Eric Abidal are both long-term absentees.

Lyon news

Lyon, like their opponents, have struggled of late and have seen their lead at the top of Ligue 1 trimmed to just one point following a 2-0 defeat to Lille at the weekend. Manager Claude Puel hopes to have Jean-Alain Boumsong (hamstring) and key striker Karim Benzema (hip) at his disposal but has a number of other concerns. Anthony Reveillere, Sebastien Faure, Sidney Govou and Fabio Santos are all sidelined but Puel expects his players will rise to the challenge. He said: "The quality of our display in the first game is the major argument that we can surprise everyone and knock Barca out. "They are hard to dominate, technically or tactically, as one of the best teams in Europe. But that's our task. "Most of my team have played in this stadium before so I don't expect them to be affected by the crowd or the atmosphere."
