Mark Hughes' equaliser on the stroke of half-time earned Barnet a 1-1 draw at home to Burton.

Pearson effort cancelled out by Hughes

Mark Hughes' equaliser on the stroke of half-time earned Barnet a hard-earned point with a 1-1 draw which put a dent in Burton's play-off push. The Brewers dominated for long periods at Underhill but paid the price for failing to take a succession of chances after Greg Pearson had given them an 18th-minute lead. Burton started like a house on fire and their constant pressure was finally rewarded when Pearson struck. Good work by Shaun Harrad allowed winger Cleveland Taylor to sweep a low cross into the box and the ball fell kindly for Jimmy Phillips to set up Pearson to bag his 12th goal of the season. But Barnet were level when Hughes tapped home from close range after Paul Furlong's header had been saved on the line by Artur Krysiak. The Brewers got on top again at the start of the second period with Harrad's shot from the edge of the box forcing a fine save from Jake Cole. Albert Adomah and Furlong had shots blocked in the six-yard box on the hour before Harrad missed two golden chances to win it. He somehow fired wide from eight yards and then in the closing stages blazed wildly over after turning Gary Breen.
