Second-half strikes from Alex Gilbey and Callum Paterson secured MK Dons a 2-0 victory against Barrow at the SO Legal Stadium.

MK Dons dominated the opening half but a mixture of some good stops from Wyll Stanway and some poor finishing kept the scores level at the break.

The visitors then took a deserved lead in the second half as Gilbey scored his first goal of the season and the points were secured when Paterson slotted home just eight minutes later.

MK Dons took the upper hand early on and were frustrated as they had a goal disallowed, as Rushian Hepburn-Murphy capitalised on a poor back pass, rounded Stanway and slotted home but a goal kick was signalled as the ball had gone out of play.

It was an improved start to the second half for the hosts, with Ben Jackson going close, but MK Dons had another big chance after Gilbey played Nathaniel Mendez-Laing through on goal but Stanway produced an excellent stop to deny the winger.

Gilbey then got the all-important first goal in the 73rd minute as he got on the end of a Paterson knock-down and steered the ball into the back of the net.

Paterson then got himself on the scoresheet in the 81st minute as Joe Tomlinson's shot was blocked but it fell to him on the edge of the box and he lashed home to seal his side's first win of the season.
