Bayern Munich stamped their authority on the Bundesliga with a 4-0 win over Hannover which cements their place at the top of the standings going into the international break.

Robert Lewandowski and Arjen Robben both grabbed braces in a match which was already over after 13 minutes.

By that time, Bayern already led 2-0 with a goal from the Pole and the Dutchman, who added another goal each for Pep Guardiola's side's fifth win in seven Bundesliga games this season.

Hannover got off to the worst possible start, conceding twice within 13 minutes to effectively see their chances of picking up anything evaporate in the autumn sun at the Allianz Arena.

Rafinha lifted a ball in from the halfway line and Marcelo was caught completely napping as Lewandowski escaped behind him, controlled the ball with his chest and side-footed it past Ron-Robert Zieler.

The second arrived not long after when another defensive mistake was punished, this time Felipe to blame as he teed up Robben to score from the edge of the area.

Xabi Alonso tried his luck from inside his own half, but Zieler tracked back and was able to tip the effort over.

Already with just 20 minutes played, the outcome of this game was clear and the two sides on the field seemed to know that too.

Bayern, playing their seventh game in 21 days, dropped the tempo ahead of a fortnight's break, and even on energy-saving mode, they were still a cut above their guests.

Lewandowski and Robben both had chances before the Polish forward turned the screw in the 38th minute, once again getting in around the back of the Hannover defence before providing the finish.

Robben wasted a good chance to add his second and Bayern's fourth with 20 minutes left, but he only had to wait a further nine minutes before doing so with a powerful angled shot past the helpless Zieler.
