Brighton entertain Leeds knowing a win will boost their survival hopes and dent The Whites' play-off chances.

Seagulls welcome Whites to the Withdean

Lowly Brighton welcome inconsistent Leeds to the Withdean Stadium knowing a win will boost their survival hopes and dent The Whites' play-off hopes. Brighton's Glenn Murray faces a late fitness test. The Seagulls' top scorer is to have an injection in a stomach problem and will be given as long as possible to prove his fitness. Boss Micky Adams also needs to reshuffle his defence after loanee Matt Richards returned to Ipswich. Long-serving left-back Kerry Mayo would be the obvious replacement but he has only just returned to action after three months out with a knee injury, so right-back Andrew Whing could move across with Adam El-Abd coming into the back four. Centre-half Colin Hawkins (calf) and midfielder David Livermore (knee) are back in training but are unlikely to be risked, and goalkeeper Michel Kuipers (hand) is still missing. Bradley Johnson, who was in the Brighton side when they last played against Swindon on 28th December, is set to line up against them having returned to Leeds following his loan spell.

New signings

New signings Richard Naylor and Carl Dickinson will go straight into Leeds' squad for their clash at Brighton and Jermaine Beckford could also be included. Leeds manager Simon Grayson has drafted in defenders Naylor, from Ipswich, and Stoke's Dickinson to shore up a leaky defence and both may start. Beckford has been sidelined with a hamstring injury since the win at Stockport on 28th December, but has returned to full training and is being closely monitored. Malcolm Christie started up front alongside Luciano Becchio in last week's disappointing 2-0 home defeat to Carlisle. But Grayson has brought in Bristol City striker Lee Trundle on loan and he could play a bigger part after scoring in a behind-closed-doors friendly in midweek against Darlington. Jonny Howson and Neil Kilkenny hope to return to the squad after missing out last week.
