Team news, stats and prediction ahead of Brighton vs Southampton in the Premier League.
Team news
Jose Izquierdo, Yves Bissouma and Ezequiel Schelotto remain absent for Brighton but Graham Potter has no fresh injury concerns. Forward Jurgen Locadia is pushing for a recall after being dropped to the bench in favour of Leandro Trossard for last weekend's draw with West Ham, while winger Alireza Jahanbakhsh is hoping to be included in Albion squad for the first time this season.
Southampton have a fully-fit squad to choose from with goalkeeper Alex McCarthy back in training after missing last weekend's game against Liverpool. Danny Ings is also pushing for a start after coming off the bench to score against his former club, while defender Kevin Danso will be hoping for a debut having been an unused substitute last weekend. Mario Lemina is not expected to be involved as he also appears ready to leave before the end of the European transfer window.

Opta stats
- In all competitions, Southampton have lost just one of their last 11 away games against Brighton (W7 D3), going down 0-3 in the Championship in January 2012.
- Brighton, who have picked up four points from six in 2019-20, have never opened a top-flight campaign by remaining unbeaten in their opening three games.
- Southampton are winless in their last seven Premier League matches (W0 D3 L4), since a 3-1 victory against Wolves in April. Indeed, Ralph Hasenhüttl last went eight league games without a win back in March 2013 with VfR Aalen in the German second tier.
- Brighton haven't scored more than once in any of their last 13 Premier League home games, netting just eight goals in the process.
- Southampton will be looking to avoid opening a Premier League campaign with three defeats for the first time since 2012-13 under Nigel Adkins. On the five previous occasions they lost their first three PL games they still managed to avoid relegation.
- Brighton boss Graham Potter will become the sixth person to manage a Premier League game against Southampton having previously played for Saints in the competition (also Micky Adams, Iain Dowie, Mark Hughes, Garry Monk and Peter Reid).
Charlie Nicholas' prediction
Brighton have probably been the surprise of the season so far. They looked good against West Ham and, even though I wasn't too impressed with their summer signings, sometimes you need five or six games to work them out.
Southampton should have got a draw against Liverpool and also played OK for an hour against Burnley. I think Ralph Hasenhuttl will be looking for a bit more energy on the counter-attack.
CHARLIE PREDICTS: 1-1 (5/1 with Sky Bet)
