Fabrizio Cavegn's 67th-minute strike created club history for Bristol Rovers with an 11th straight home league win seeing off Exeter 1-0 at the Memorial Stadium.

Cavegn scored his third Sky Bet League Two goal of the season midway through the second half, lashing an acrobatic finish home from close range following a flicked-on long throw from Kofi Balmer.

Jack Sparkes came close to doubling the home side's lead just two minutes after the goal as he arrived late, latching onto an Ellis Harrison cross, and struck the near post.

Substitute Reiss Russell-Denny thought he had secured the points in the 81st minute as his low strike went through Jack Bycroft, who did just enough to divert the ball wide of the post.

A late double chance in stoppage time from Bobby Kamwa, followed by Joe Quigley, forced a brilliant double save from Bycroft.

Shaq Forde had almost opened the scoring before the break when the ball came to him with his back to goal around the penalty spot, hitting it on the turn, but blasting it just over the bar.
