Highlights of the EFL Cup match between Cheltenham Town and Charlton Athletic

Harry Pell's first-half goal was enough to take League Two Cheltenham through to the second round of the EFL Cup at the expense of League One Charlton.

In the first ever meeting between the clubs, both had a goal disallowed in the opening 15 minutes, with Nicky Ajose for Charlton and Danny Wright for Cheltenham seeing the flag raised after they had the ball in the net.

Roger Johnson forced a save from Everton loan goalkeeper Russell Griffiths as Charlton threatened in the 15th minute, but Cheltenham took the lead a minute later.

Daniel O'Shaughnessy's long throw-in was flicked on by Danny Wright and Pell finished off against the club at which his career started.

Cheltenham were impressive in the first half, with Wright denied by Rudd's save and Billy Waters curling the rebound just wide of the left post.

O'Shaughnessy lifted a shot over the bar five minutes into the second half, but Cheltenham then had to do some defending as Charlton pressed for a leveller.
