Chesterfield v Notts C preview

Image: Westcarr: Could face his former club

Team news ahead of Saturday's League One clash between Chesterfield and Notts County at the B2net Stadium.

Chesterfield will hope Nathan Smith returns from international duty unscathed. Smith has been away with Jamaica for their World Cup qualifier against Honduras. The full-back missed last week's Johnstone's Paint Trophy victory over Notts and the league defeat to Sheffield Wednesday but should be restored to the squad if he is injury-free. Craig Westcarr (groin) was withdrawn at half-time as a precautionary measure at Hillsborough and manager John Sheridan hopes the forward will be fit to face his former club. Sheridan, who will serve the first of a two-match touchline ban after being charged with improper conduct by the Football Association this week, will be hoping for good news from physio Jamie Hewitt, with Jamie Lowry (broken toe), Dwayne Mattis (ankle) and Derek Niven (ankle) close to being available again. Midfielder Lee Johnson, sent off against Notts last week, will serve the second game of a three-match suspension. The absence of Cristian Montano will be the only change to the Notts County squad. West Ham teenager Montano signed off in style with the final goal in Sunday's televised 3-0 home win over Hartlepool as his loan spell at Meadow Lane ended. The Colombian has since undertaken a loan spell at Swindon, who are managed by Hammers legend Paolo Di Canio. Boss Martin Allen hinted this week that Ishmel Demontagnac could now get his chance to impress following Montano's departure. Lee Hughes started on the bench last weekend and the veteran striker could struggle for a recall after Karl Hawley scored twice against Pools. Defender Stephen Hunt remains sidelined with an ankle injury.
