      Late penalty stop saves Peterborough

Peterborough United are back up to fourth spot in League Two after a 2-1 victory over Chesterfield. The Posh were second best for most of the game, indeed they took the lead with their first shot on goal. Leading scorer Aaron McLean was on hand to poke home after Barry Roche spilled Craig Mackail-Smith's cross. Peterborough's second goal arrived just a minute after the re-start and Mackail-Smith was again the architect. This time his cross found winger George Boyd - who made no mistake. Chesterfield gave themselves some real hope of salvaging something from the game as Peter Leven fired home from close range. Then in the final minute, the Spireites were handed a wonderful chance to level as they won a penalty. Posh substitute Tom Williams hauled down Jack Lester in the box and he was sent off for his efforts. Leven was handed the chance to be a hero, but he could not beat Joe Lewis from 12 yards as the Peterborough keeper pushed his shot away to secure all three points for Darren Ferguson's men. The win takes Peterborough back into fourth and just three points off second placed Darlington, whilst Chesterfield remain ninth. Chesterfield 1-2 Peterborough
