Colchester were dumped out of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy 3-1 by League Two Barnet on Tuesday night.
The Bees went ahead in the seventh-minute through Ricky Holmes, who prodded home from close range after playing a neat one-two with Sam Deering. But Colchester were level after 15 minutes through defender Pat Baldwin, who nodded in after Steven Gillespie's header from Lloyd James' corner came back off the bar. However, Barnet restored their lead two minutes later when Izale McLeod converted from the spot after the striker had been brought down by Matt Heath in the area. Barnet was reduced to 10 men midway through the second half when McLeod picked up two bookings in quick succession, after failing to retreat from a free-kick. But substitute Steve Kabba nodded in after Us goalkeeper Ben Williams had only parried Mark Byrne's corner to seal victory for the Bees.
