Harry Pell's penalty rescued a point for Colchester in a thrilling 3-3 draw with League Two basement-dwellers Notts County.
Colchester took an eighth-minute lead through Sammie Szmodics, who fired home first time from close range from Courtney Senior's assist.
Jon Stead then stabbed home a 16th-minute equaliser for Notts County at the far post after David Vaughan's corner had sailed across the six-yard box.
And three minutes later Dan Jones slammed home emphatically from 10 yards to put the Magpies ahead from Andy Kellett's pass.
Things got even better for County after 32 minutes when Kristian Dennis fired home a low shot from Rob Milsom's pass.
Colchester's Tom Lapslie headed a good chance wide before the hosts pulled a goal back in first-half stoppage-time, with Richard Duffy's attempted clearance from Ryan Jackson's cross coming back off Mikael Mandron and flying into the net.
Pell then salvaged a point for Colchester from the penalty spot in the 67th minute after Senior had been fouled in the area by Duffy.
