Colchester v Carlisle preview

Image: Ward: Carlisle challenge

Colchester boss John Ward will keep faith with Mark Cousins for the visit of Carlisle on Friday evening.

U's keep faith in Cousins; No changes for Cumbrians

Colchester boss John Ward will keep faith with Mark Cousins for the visit of Carlisle on Friday evening. The U's shot-stopper had a howler in the week and was responsible for both goals in the Carling Cup defeat to Sunderland. Ward, though, has seen that as a blip by Cousins who he believes will be back to his true form this weekend. First choice goalkeeper Ben Williams is nearing fitness following an ankle injury which has seen him miss Colchester's first five games. Full-back Marc Tierney should figure having missed out at the Stadium of Light through illness. Centre-half Paul Reid (groin) will face a late fitness test, while midfielder Kem Izzet has been passed fit following an ankle knock. Simon Hackney (back) is doubtful and Steven Gillespie (ankle), John-Joe O'Toole and Morten Knudsen (both knee) are still out.

Carlisle news

Carlisle boss Greg Abbott is expected to name an unchanged squad for the trip to Essex. The Cumbrians have had the same starting Xl for every one of their four games so far, from which they have taken seven points. Abbott has no fresh injury concerns or suspensions and will be hoping his side can add to their 4-1 win over MK Dons last week. Defender Danny Livesey will be sidelined until the autumn as he recovers from a groin injury and he hopes to return to training in eight weeks. Striker Jason Price has a small muscle tear sustained in training and is expected to be sidelined for a fortnight.
