Colchester v Huddersfield preview

Steven Gillespie returns to the Colchester squad for the first game at their new 10,000-seater stadium.

Striker back to full fitness

Steven Gillespie returns to the Colchester squad for the first game at their new 10,000-seater stadium. The Weston Homes Community Stadium opens its doors for the first time for the visit of Huddersfield after the Us said goodbye to Layer Road, their home for 71 years, at the end of last season. Striker Gillespie, a club-record summer signing from Cheltenham, missed the midweek Carling Cup win at Gillingham with a tight thigh and should go straight back into the starting line-up. New midfielder David Perkins serves the fourth game of his five-match ban carried over from last season, and centre-half Pat Baldwin is still recovering from a dislocated shoulder. Captain Chris Coyne and left-back Matt Lockwood were left out at Gillingham and will be looking to return.

Return

Andy Booth is expected to return to Huddersfield's starting line-up at Colchester. The big striker was rested for the Terriers' convincing Carling Cup win against Bradford in midweek but should return to partner Danny Cadamarteri in attack at the expense of Luke Beckett, with summer signing Keigan Parker again on the substitutes' bench. Veteran defender David Unsworth returns to the squad after being rested for Tuesday's game - having undergone his medical the previous day - but must wait to see if he is chosen ahead of left-back Robbie Williams. Manager Stan Ternent must also decide whether to recall Michael Collins to his starting line-up or retain Jon Worthington, who scored the opener against Bradford. Midfielder James Berrett will not travel as he has been called into the Republic of Ireland's Under-21 squad.
