Defender Matt Briggs (hip) and midfielder Louis Dunne (ankle) are long-term absentees. Centre-back George Elokobi has joined Braintree on loan.
Newport will check on the fitness of a handful of players.
Mark Randall (hamstring), Scot Bennett (neck) and Paul Bignot (ankle) are all nursing injuries following the midweek defeat to Swansea in the EFL Trophy.
Jamie Turley's knock will continue to be monitored along with Joss Labadie's hamstring problem as McCarthy hopes to have at least one of them back in contention on Saturday.
