League One Doncaster twisted the knife on troubled Hull to dump the Championship side out of the Carabao Cup.
Goals from Alfie May and Tommy Rowe helped Doncaster to a comfortable win over an inexperienced Hull side.
The severity of winless Hull's current injury crisis was highlighted by their starting XI, which had a combined six starts for the club between them, with six players making their senior debuts among 11 changes.
But Leonid Slutsky's young visitors produced a mature performance in the first half, showing great organisation and energetic pressing to prevent Doncaster from finding their flow.
However, once Doncaster cracked them open early in the second half, there was only going to be one winner.
May grabbed his fourth goal in as many games when he slammed into the bottom corner from 15 yards after 48 minutes.
And seven minutes later Rowe arrived late on to May's cross and drilled a low shot into the far corner.
Both Ben Whiteman and May hit the woodwork as Rovers threatened to increase their advantage.
