FC Utrecht remain well-placed in Group K despite having to settle for a draw against Steaua Bucharest.

Dutch side remain unbeaten in group though

Alje Schut's late own goal denied FC Utrecht their first Europa League win and forced them to settle for a 1-1 draw against Steaua Bucharest. The Dutch side led through an Edouard Duplan strike on the hour mark but Steaua nicked a point when Schut headed into his own net with 15 minutes left. Utrecht remain unbeaten in Group K after three draws and although they are third, second-placed Napoli are above them on goals scored and group leaders Liverpool are only two points better off. Steaua are also yet to win in the group and are bottom with two draws from three games.

Lively first half

Utrecht had started strongly, forging the game's first opportunity in the seventh minute. Michael Silberbauer crossed for Jacob Mulenga, whose close-range right-footed shot was sent wide. Iasmin Latovlevici carved out a rare opportunity for the Romanian visitors in the 19th minute as his left-footed shot was saved by Utrecht keeper Michel Vorm. Utrecht stepped things up soon after as Tim Cornelisse smashed a right-footed effort against the crossbar from inside the area. Moments later Ricky van Wolfswinkel shot from the right side of the area, only to be denied by a smart save from Cristian Tatarusanu. A lively first half continued with Cristian Tanase hitting a 30-yard strike wide for Steaua before Duplan was off target at the other end. Silberbauer also fired wide for the hosts, who upped the pressure from the start of the second half, with Gianluca Nijholt forcing a save after latching onto Mertens' corner before Van Wolfswinkel had a goal disallowed.
Breakthrough
Stanislav Angelov had an effort saved by Utrecht keeper Michel Vorm before the hosts broke the deadlock in the 60th minute, Duplan firing right-footed into the bottom-left corner from Van Wolfswinkel's pass. Schut and Mertens both went close to doubling the lead and that profligacy was punished in the 75th minute when the Romanian outfit got level. Schut got his head to a Steaua free-kick on the right but only succeeded in directing the ball past Vorm and into his own net.
