Getafe were the width of a post away from earning a much-needed win against Real Valladolid had to settle for the draw which hardly helps either side. Six defeats and a draw in their last seven competitive matches had seen Getafe tumble down the Primera Division standings and crash out of the Copa del Rey, but that dismal winless run looked set to come to an end as Diego Castro's thunderous second-half stoppage-time strike arrowed towards the top corner. However, the 25-yard effort crashed against the post and stayed out, and soon afterwards the full-time whistle went to leave Getafe and Valladolid - who had also struck the woodwork early on - still in trouble near the foot of the standings following a goalless draw. Getafe came into the match five points clear of third-bottom Valladolid, but the visitors' confidence had been boosted by their win over high-flying Villarreal last time out and it was they who started much the better at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez. Jesus Rueda glanced a close-range header against the post in the 14th minute before Stefan Mitrovic and Daniel Larsson fired efforts off target and Javi Guerra drew a parry out of Getafe goalkeeper Miguel Moya. That let-off seemed to spark a response from the hosts, with Angel Lafita twice trying his luck without success as the first half finished in stalemate. The lack of clear-cut chances at either end continued in the second half, with neither goalkeeper seriously tested until the 72nd minute when Moya gathered Victor Perez's 20-yard shot. Alberto Manucho then failed to convert from six yards as Valladolid searched for a winner, but it was Getafe who almost grabbed it as Castro saw his stoppage-time thunderbolt agonisingly come back off the frame of the goal.
