Simeon Jackson hit a double as a rampant Gillingham smashed Morecambe 5-0 at Priestfield.
Mark Bentley opened the scoring on 20 minutes when he was left unmarked to head home Albert Jarrett's centre and Bentley turned provider minutes later nipping a clever pass through to Jackson, who expertly dispatched the ball into the bottom-left corner from 18 yards.
Simon King and new captain Barry Fuller both went close for the dominant hosts before Jackson grabbed his second on 35 minutes.
The pacy frontman latched on to Fuller's long ball and cut inside David Artell before rifling a left-footed effort past the helpless Barry Roche.
After the break Morecambe almost pulled one back through Wayne Curtis before Nicky Southall added a fourth when Roche came rushing out of his area to clear a ball over the top but his clearance fell kindly to Southall whose shot went in via defender David Artell.
And substitute Mark McCammon rounded off a fine day for the hosts when he blasted the ball home from close-range after good work by Andy Barcham.
