Hibernian came from a goal down at Easter Road to beat Arbroath 3-1 and book a place in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals.

Franck Dja Djedje and Dylan McGeouch scored either side of a Liam Gordon own goal to turn the game round for Hibs after Arbroath had taken the lead through Keiran Stewart.

Arbroath almost caught their hosts cold inside the first minute when Mark Oxley got down at the feet of Simon Murray as he burst into the penalty area.

Three minutes later, Jason Cummings had penalty appeals waved away after he appeared to be pulled back in the opposite box as he tried to get on to a flick from Dja Djedje.

Hibernian had another chance when Dja Djedje latched on to a loose ball to send a low delivery across the box, but both Fraser Fyvie and Cummings failed to connect.

Scottish Cup round-up

Just as Hibernian were looking like swamping the League Two side, they were stunned when Stewart crashed his shot past Oxley from a tight angle on 17 minutes.

Hibs levelled the game four minutes before the break as David Gray got in behind the Arbroath defence and cut the ball back to Dja Djedje to put his shot past Marc McCallum.

Despite pushing forward from the start of the second half, Hibernian had to wait until the hour mark to get in front, and they enjoyed some good fortune when a drive from Cummings inside the box nicked off Arbroath defender Gordon to beat the ‘keeper.

The tie was over eight minutes later as McGeouch turned a defender inside-out on the run and crashed a low shot into the corner.

Shortly after that Fyvie fired a shot narrowly wide of the upright and Cummings had a shot on the turn saved by McCallum.

Cummings then slipped the ball over the advancing stopper and just wide, before McCallum made another good save to deny the Hibs forward in the dying minutes.
