Park helps pile pressure on UAE

South Korea proved far too strong for United Arab Emirates on Wednesday as they strolled to a 4-1 win. Manchester United winger Park Ji-sung was among the goals for the home side while Lee Keun-ho bagged a brace. It was Lee who opened the scoring after just 19 minutes as he collected a clever pass from Lee Chung-yong and fired a deflected effort past a stranded Majed Naser. Park then doubled South Korea's lead six minutes later when he stole possession on the edge of the box and found the top corner with a fierce drive. UAE's solitary strike then came as substitute Ismail Al Hammadi profited from some lax defending to slide home on 71 minutes. However, Lee then struck again nine minutes later and Kwak Tae-hee rounded off the scoring two minutes from time. South Korea, who are looking to appear at a seventh consecutive World Cup, were held to a 1-1 draw by North Korea in their Asian qualifying Group Two opener while UAE have now lost all three of their fixtures to date. In Wednesday's second match, Iran defeated North Korea 2-1 as Mehdi Mahdavika (10) and Javad Nekounam (64) put the home side in front and Jong Tae Se (71) could only net a consolation.
