Inter now lead the league with 53 points, AC Milan, who play later on Saturday evening, are second with 44 and Juventus third on 43.
Mourinho's charges took the lead 11 minutes into the match when Esteban Cambiasso threaded a short pass through the defence to Zlatan Ibrahimovic and the Swede lashed in his 14th goal of the season.
In the second half, headed goals from Luis Figo and Dejan Stankovic made the match safe for Inter.
