Walker strike breaks Orient hearts

Leyton Orient missed the chance to move out of the League One relegation zone after being held 1-1 by Southend. The Os led early on when Adam Boyd curled home past Steve Mildenhall on 11 minutes with a delightful right-footed finish. Teenager Baker, on his full debut, twice tested Mildenhall, while the Shrimpers' only first-half threat came when a clearance from home keeper Glenn Morris rebounded off Alex Revell and went inches wide. Southend's Kevin Betsy cut inside and fired wide as the second half opened with their first clear-cut chance. Walker soon looked lively when he came on in midfield, and when Orient's defence got themselves into a muddle Revell fired over. He was injured in the tackle as he shot and was stretchered off. That resulted in six minutes of added time, and at the death Orient defenders nervously allowed Walker to work his way in from the left and fire a superb right-foot shot into the top corner.
