Orient get the better of higher-placed opponents

Two goals from Sean Thornton ensured Leyton Orient ended a run of seven games without a win with a 2-0 victory over Walsall. Orient, who had not scored in their previous three games, were unable to find a breakthrough in the opening 45 minutes. Their best effort came from a 28th-minute header from striker Scott McGleish, which Walsall's Josh O'Keefe hooked over his own bar for a corner. Orient broke the deadlock in the 63rd minute when Aaron Doran capitalised on Walsall's defensive uncertainty and crossed for Thornton to slide home. The hosts added a second nine minutes later when Jonathan Tehoue and McGleish worked the ball in from the right and Thornton scored with a low shot. Walsall never looked like finding a way back into the game and failed to muster an attempt on goal after the interval.
