Crawley eased into the next round of the JPT with a 1-0 win over League Two Luton, courtesy of Gwion Edwards' second-half strike.
Edwards had come closest in the first half as his long range snapshot was clawed out by Elliot Justham with the rebound from Lewis Young's shot deflected just past his own post by Luke Wilkinson. Luke Guttridge fired just wide of goal for the hosts as they struggled to get going in the first period, with Crawley always in control. The visitors were ahead in the 51st minute as Young burst forward and crossed for Matt Harrold and after his effort hit the bar Edwards was there to hammer home from close range. But Town substitute Charlie Walker almost levelled with his first touch, as his lob cannoned back off the bar, with his rebound kept out by Brian Jensen. The Red Devils saw Marvin Elliott and Edwards send further efforts wide, while Guttridge came within inches of forcing penalties as his piledriver beat Jenson but crashed against the woodwork.
