Gannon set to tinker while Boro skipper a doubt

Middlesbrough will expect to extend their unbeaten run as they welcome basement club Peterborough to the Riverside on Saturday. Gordon Strachan's men have not lost in their last five outings and have played themselves back into contention for a play-off finish with just two points between them and the top six. In contrast, Posh are staring relegation in the face and will require nothing short of a miracle if they are to turn their fortunes around and avoid the drop back down to League One.

    Boro news

Middlesbrough skipper Gary O'Neil is a doubt for Strachan's side as he battles a groin injury. Striker Chris Killen, who like O'Neil scored in Tuesday night's 2-1 home win over Barnsley, is also struggling after picking up a hamstring strain. Emanuel Pogatetz and Scott McDonald, who both played the full 90 minutes in midweek despite not being fully match fit, suffered no ill-effects and should be available again. Julio Arca, who has missed the last two games with a toe problem, is unlikely to return, while Chris Riggott (hamstring), Rhys Williams (pelvic injury) and Jeremie Aliadiere (ankle surgery) are back in light training. Seb Hines (ankle and knee ligament) and Matthew Bates (cruciate ligament) remain on the sidelines.
    Posh news
Peterborough manager Jim Gannon is debating another tactical change ahead of Saturday's trip to the Riverside. Gannon has favoured a 3-4-1-2 formation in his two games in charge so far but reverted to 4-4-2 for the second half of the 2-0 defeat at Cardiff in midweek and may start with the more orthodox shape for Posh's first trip to the Riverside. Centre-half Gabriel Zakuani remains sidelined with a groin injury but Gannon has no other problems as he looks for a first away win of the season. Midfielder Charlie Lee suffered a dead leg in the win over QPR last Saturday but was fit enough to be on the bench at Cardiff and comes back into the reckoning to face Gordon Strachan's men. A goal from Dominic Iorfa gave Peterborough a draw on their last visit to face Boro at their old Ayresome Park home in October 1993.
