Both MK Dons and Brighton had a man sent off for fighting during a goalless draw in their League One clash. Dons player coach Alex Rae and Diego Arismendi for the Seagulls were involved in the bust-up three minutes into first-half stoppage time after the Uruguayan's penalty appeal had been waved away. The pair were given their marching orders after trading blows in a heated encounter. Despite the double sending-off, the Dons had the best chances of the half as they struck the woodwork twice. The hosts controlled the first 45 minutes and Adam Chicksen was nearly on the scoresheet when he capitalised on a poorly sliced clearance from goalkeeper Peter Brezovan. However the 18-year-old defender's lob just sailed wide. Daniel Powell then saw his deflected shot narrowly miss the target as the home side pressed for the opener. Dons midfielder Luke Chadwick smashed a dipping half-volley against the crossbar and Charlie Collins, making his debut for the club, curled a 12-yard shot against the post after a fine run from Powell.

Trading blows

The game was soon marred when 40-year-old Rae and Arismendi, who is currently on-loan from Stoke, received straight reds for trading blows following a failed penalty appeal from the Brighton midfielder. Chicksen drilled a shot inches wide from the edge of the box moments after the break before Seagulls full-back Gavin Hoyte was denied from close range by Dons keeper Stuart Searle as the visitors took charge. Brighton piled forward as the game reached the final stages but efforts from Chris Holroyd, substitute Marcos Painter and Tommy Elphick were all narrowly off-target and the Dons hung on for a point. The goalless stalemate means the MK Dons' winless run has now stretched across 10 games in League One.
