NEWCASTLE 2-1 BOURNEMOUTH
Newcastle hold on! Rondon's double is enough to hand the hosts a second successive win.
It also condemns Bournemouth to a second defeat on the spin, with the visitors unable to build on Lerma's goal late in the first half.
Highlights on the way shortly...
90+3: Playground stuff after L.Cook cynically fouls Rondon. The pair square up after, and it has resulted in bookings for both.
90+2: Time is running out for Eddie Howe's Bournemouth, and Newcastle have the ball where they want it - in their opponent's half. Just two minutes to go...
90: SAVE! So close to a Rondon hat-trick! Francis' mistake allows Newcastle to counter and Rondon steams through on goal, but the boot of Begovic denies the forward.
It was initially given as a goal-kick but it's eventually given as a corner, which Begovic catches.
There will be FOUR minutes added on.
88: It's attack vs defence as we head towards stoppage time. Newcastle hanging on.
86: OFFSIDE! Bournemouth have the ball in the back of the net, but it's ruled out for offside! Brooks' strike flicks off Ake and it's a quality save from Dubravka - it falls to Gosling who turns it in, but he was indeed offside when doing so. Right call.
84: As the clock ticks down, Benitez continues to dish out the instructions. Having switched to five at the back, they're holding on to what they've got!
82: Whistles and jeers as ex-Sunderland man Defoe comes on to replace Ibe - final throw of the dice from Bournemouth.
81: GOOD SAVE! Almost an immediate impact from Atsu, who cuts onto his left before shooting. The effort deflects off Ake and Begovic does well to tip it wide - and the corner comes to nothing for the hosts.
79: Huge waste from Daniels as his cross-field ball is nowhere near its target and hands Newcastle a throw-in.
Final sub for Newcastle with Diame off and Atsu replacing him.
77: Fraser in acres of space down the left but he cannot pick out Brooks in the middle when finally deciding to cross.
Another Newcastle sub sees Kenedy head off and Clark come on - there's the defensive switch, with some 15 minutes to go.
75: First sub of the afternoon for Newcastle and it's Hayden who comes on to replace Ritchie.
73: WHAT A CHANCE! Gosling threads through a ball for Ibe, but after taking a touch he cannot keep his effort down and fires wildly over the bar.
67: Fraser skips past Schar all too easily and his cross is then put out for a corner by Fernandez. After a short corner, Fraser's cross results in... another corner.
Brooks takes it this time, but Rondon is there to head away.
65: Newcastle not shying away from going forward still even though they are protecting a lead. Has made for an enjoyable game, you have to wonder if Benitez will make a defensive switch sooner rather than later.
63: WIDE! A mistake from Ibe allows Newcastle to counter - Bournemouth get back as the balls ends up with Perez out wide. He picks out Ritchie but he can't direct his low strike on goal.
60: SAVE! Fraser carries the ball for seemingly an age and ends up striking from 25 yards out. It takes a deflection and Wilson is not close enough to turn it in as Dubravka dives to his left to stop it. Moments later, Wilson heads over the bar. Bournemouth on top as they go in search of an equaliser.
58: Some last-ditch defending from Ibe to deny Kenedy from pouncing following a long ball over the top. Finely poised this game, and you feel like there's at least another goal on the way.
56: WIDE! Another delightful cross from Newcastle, this time by Ritchie, but hat-trick-hunting Rondon cannot direct his header on goal after reaching it first between two defenders.
54: Bournemouth have started this half well, but a handful of corners come to nothing for the visitors.
RONDON AT THE DOUBLE
52: Wilson looking for a penalty but it's a bit of a half-hearted appeal as he goes down just inside the area under minimal contact.
49: We're used to this - a break in play. Schar is on the pitch receiving treatment for his nosebleed. Tissue up the nostril and he heads to the sidelines.
47: Newcastle start on the offensive but Ki's corner cannot find a man in black and white. Lee Probert stops play with Schar down and blood running out of his nose!
SECOND HALF! Back under way at St James' Park. A change at half-time sees Gosling come on for Lerma, who has gone off with a hamstring problem.

There's the half-time whistle. Rondon had fired Newcastle to a 2-0 lead, but Lerma has given Bournemouth hope going into the second half.
A blow for Bournemouth too with Smith going off with a knee injury that looked very serious, and resulted in eight minutes of stoppage time, hence Lerma's goal after 51 minutes.
45+7: WIDE! Big chance for Perez - he's through on goal but the angle isn't kind as he sends an effort beyond the far post.
GOAL! NEWCASTLE 2-1 BOURNEMOUTH (Lerma, 45+6)
Big blow for Newcastle just before half-time. Moments after a stunning save from Dubravka, Lerma flicks a header into the far corner and Bournemouth are back in this one. May have taken a deflection, but he won't care.
NEWCASTLE 2-0 BOURNEMOUTH
45+4: ANOTHER SAVE! England's Wilson almost scores at the wrong end! Ki's cross flicks off the head of Wilson and it takes a superb reaction save from Begovic to flick it over the bar.
45+2: BIG SAVE! Some lovely free-flowing football from Newcastle - how often do you get to write that - as Kenedy plays a delightful one-two with Perez before forcing a quality stop from Begovic.
45: Smith's injury has resulted in EIGHT minutes of added time in the first half.
42: HANDBALL! Cry the Newcastle fans - but as Rondon heads it against Wilson's arm inside the area, it's deemed not deliberate by Lee Probert. Right call, too, with Wilson's arms by his side.
GOAL! NEWCASTLE 2-0 BOURNEMOUTH (Rondon, 40)
Some header this!
Kenedy whips in a delightful ball and Rondon sends an unstoppable header into the top corner. That's exactly what you want from your No 9, and having finally scored his first league goal for Newcastle, the Venezuelan has a second!
NEWCASTLE 1-0 BOURNEMOUTH
38: Not exactly much to shout about since Smith's injury. A lot of play in the middle of the park but no chances of note. Needs another spark.
36: Diame gives away another foul and this time Bournemouth will look to swing one in from deep. Brooks rolls it for Fraser but as the ball comes in the flag goes up for offside on Lerma.
34: Understandably, what was a very lively game has become a bit subdued. The players will no doubt find their rhythm again, but it's a bit scrappy since Smith made way.
32: Never easy getting back into the swing of things after such a lengthy break. Bournemouth will have to re-group and re-focus on the task in hand.
30: And Smith is carried off to a generous applause, with all supporters realising the severity of the injury.
Real concern and he's got his right leg is in a brace as he goes off. Best of luck to him and hopefully it's not too serious!
On comes Daniels - after an eight-minute delay.
26: A lot of concern for Smith and they have not rushed bringing him off the field either. He's still down and not yet on the stretcher. Four members of Bournemouth's medical staff, as well as a handful of the St John Ambulance crew, are attending to the left-back.
Charlie Daniels will come on, when they manage to carry Smith off.
24: Adam Smith has gone down after dummying a free-kick. This does not look good and it looks like a knee injury.
Such a bizarre and unfortunate moment in his 200th game for Bournemouth. The visitors had a free-kick in their own half and Ritchie was just standing a few yards away. Smith pretended to kick the ball and he's ended up on the floor, and the stretcher has come out. That's his game over, and he could well be out for a while.
21: Fraser and Brooks stand over the ball, for what is essentially a short corner at a slight angle...
SAVE! Fraser goes for goal and Dubravka parries it away to safety.
20: Bournemouth have responded well since going a goal down, and Newcastle seem a bit more content to sit back and let them attack. Good chance for the visitors to cross one in out wide after Diame brings down Fraser.
When you finally score your first Premier League goal for your new club...
16: Hairy moment at the back for Newcastle. Ibe brings the ball down inside the area and sees his shot blocked by Dummett - a cross then ricochets off Ki and across goal but no Bournemouth player is there to tap in and Dubravka gratefully smothers the ball.
14: OVER! Ritchie needs no invitation to strike from 25 yards out. He lets the ball drop to a nice height and though he catches it well, it sails some five yards over the bar.
12: Great start to this game, and a perfect one if you're a Newcastle fan. That's just their eighth league goal of the season, in what is their 12th match.
