Should Liverpool be drawn at home in the EFL Cup second round, their tie may be moved due to Anfield's re-development.

The draw for the second round of this season's EFL Cup will take place on Wednesday live on Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports News HQ.

Teams will learn the identity of their opponents immediately after the conclusion of the match between Sky Bet League Two outfit Luton Town and Roberto Di Matteo's Aston Villa at approximately 10pm.

In the event that Liverpool are drawn at home in the second round then they will be given special dispensation by the EFL board to play the fixture at the opposing club due to the ongoing re-development work at Anfield.

If the draw dictates this is required then the board will determine a level of compensation to be paid by Liverpool to the opposing club.

An EFL spokesman said: "The board of the EFL carefully considered a request from Liverpool FC and felt that in these particular circumstances it was wholly appropriate to agree to a fixture reversal."

Liverpool are adding 8,500 seats to the Main Stand, taking the overall capacity at Anfield to around 54,000.
