Barnsley have signed midfielder Aidy White following his release by Rotherham.

The 24-year-old has returned to Oakwell on a contract for the remainder of the season following a loan spell with the Sky Bet League 1 club.

White joined Rotherham from Leeds on a free transfer last summer but struggled to make an impact at the New York Stadium, making only 10 appearances - six of them as a substitute - before being loaned to the Tykes on November 17.

He has impressed Barnsley boss Lee Johnson during his seven appearances operating as a left-back and the deal has now been firmed up after Rotherham terminated White's contract by mutual consent.

White told Barnsley's official website: "I'm pleased to get it all sorted and can't wait to get going again. I've really enjoyed my time here and we've picked up some good results.

"We've got a good side here and I'm sure we will climb the league even more and we have a great shot at reaching Wembley."
