Middlesbrough are interested in signing former Manchester United goalkeeper Victor Valdes, according to Sky Sports football expert Guillem Balague.

The 34-year-old former Spain international has had an offer from Portugal, another from Turkey, and is also wanted by Boro, Balague says.

Balague tweeted out on his @GuillemBalague account: "The GK @1victorvaldes has to decide on his future. He has an offer from Portugal, one from Turkey. And Middlesbrough wants him too."

Valdes has recently followed Boro's official account on Twitter.

The Teesside club were promoted to the Premier League last season and are also managed by fellow Spaniard Aitor Karanka, who is looking for a new goalkeeper.

Valdes joined United on an 18-month deal in January 2015, having finished his rehabilitation from a cruciate knee ligament injury with the club.

Valdes tore the ligament playing for Barcelona almost a year earlier, ruling him out for the rest of the 2013-14 season and the 2014 FIFA World Cup, and he was subsequently released at the end of his contract that summer.
