Montpellier have announced the signing of Stephane Sessegnon on a two-year contract.
Former Sunderland midfielder Sessegnon was a free agent, after being released by West Brom in May.
A statement on the Ligue 1 club's official website confirmed the 32-year-old Benin international - who has also played in France for Creteil, Le Mans and Paris Saint-Germain - would wear the number 28.
The Benin international played with PSG for three seasons before joining Sunderland in 2011.
Midfielder Sessegnon joined Albion from the Black Cats in September 2013 for a-then club record fee of £5.5million and went on to make 92 appearances, scoring eight goals.
Montpellier are 16th in Ligue 1 after one win from their first seven games.
