Bacary Sagna has been charged with misconduct by the FA for his comments on social media after Manchester City's 2-1 win over Burnley on January 2.

City midfielder Fernandinho was shown his third red card in six matches for lunging in two-footed on Johann Berg Gudmundsson in the 32nd minute.

After the game, Sagna appeared to hit out at referee Lee Mason after the Premier League encounter, posting on Instagram "10 against 12.. but still fighting and winning as a team".

The FA have confirmed to Sky Sports News HQ last week that they were 'seeking observations' from the France international and they have now decided to charge him.

A statement from the FA said: "It is alleged that a comment posted on social media by the Manchester City defender constituted improper conduct in that it questioned the integrity of the match official and/or alleged and/or implied bias on the part of the match official, and/or brought the game into disrepute."
