Aston Villa have completed the signing of Iceland international Birkir Bjarnason.
The 28-year-old midfielder makes the move to Villa Park on a three-and-a-half year deal after a fee was agreed with Swiss club FC Basel.
Bjarnason has scored eight goals in 57 international appearances and featured for Iceland in their 2-1 victory over England at Euro 2016.
The former Viking, Standard Liege, Pescara and Sampdoria player said: "I'm delighted to have signed for Aston Villa. It's a very big club. I am now looking forward to getting out on to the pitch and helping the team."
Sky sources also understand Villa have received a number of enquiries for Ross McCormack, but are yet to receive any firm offers for the forward.
The Scotland international has struggled to make an impact at Villa since joining from Fulham for £12m last summer.
McCormack is currently out of favour under manager Steve Bruce after missing several training sessions last week.
