Portugal defender Pepe has joined Turkish champions Besiktas on a free transfer.

The former Real Madrid centre-back, who was released by the Champions League winners last month, is believed to have signed a three-year deal.

Pepe, 34, was linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain and had said he received offers from Premier League clubs.

The former FC Porto defender played for Portugal in their Confederations Cup campaign where they reached the semi-finals before losing to Chile on penalties. He scored in the controversial 2-1 victory over Mexico in the third-place play-off on Sunday.
