Sheffield Wednesday have signed defender Joost van Aken from Dutch club Heerenveen for an undisclosed fee.
The centre-back has been capped three times at international level by Netherlands U21s and is eligible to make his debut for the cub against Nottingham Forest after the international break.
Van Aken played 90 times in total for Heerenveen, including 26 appearances last season as he helped them to a mid-table finish in Eredivisie.
He completed his move to Hillsborough on Wednesday and will join his new team-mates at Middlewood Road on Thursday.
The Owls have already signed defender Frederico Venancio on a season-long loan from Vitoria Setubal during the summer transfer window.
But they appear to have missed out on Brentford centre-back Harlee Dean, who looks set to join Birmingham City in a £2.2m deal, Sky Sports News understands.
