Leeds United need to take at least 27 points from their last 14 games to reach the Sky Bet Championship play-offs, says Pablo Hernandez.

Paul Heckingbottom's Leeds are without a win in eight games heading into their game against Derby at Pride Park on Wednesday, live on Sky Sports Football.

The poor run of form has seen them slip to 12th in the table, but Hernandez has issued a points tally he believes will be enough to give them a chance of promotion back to the Premier League.

"I think it is simple," he told the Yorkshire Post.

"We have in front of us 14 games. If you see the points [for the team finishing sixth] in the last few years, if we want to have a chance to finish in the play-off positions then we need to minimum win nine or 10 games. It is this simple."

If Leeds are to get themselves back into play-off contention, then Pablo Hernandez could be the man to inspire it.

Two late Leeds goals earned Heckingbottom his first point as head coach in a 2-2 draw with Bristol City at Elland Road on Sunday, leaving them eight points off the play-off places.
