Stoke new boy an 'outstanding' talent

Tony Pulis has urged the need for new Stoke City signing Demar Phillips to be given time. The Championship club paid 'a significant, but undisclosed' fee for the Jamaica international prior to last week's transfer deadline. Compatriot, and new Stoke team-mate, Ricardo Fuller has already praised the ability of the winger. Phillips could make his debut in The Potters' next game against Hull City, but manager Pulis does not want people to expect an instant return on the club's outlay.

Great left foot

"We have got to give him time - he is a young kid who has just come from Jamaica," said Pulis. "He has been playing in the national team there and he is an outstanding talent, even though he is a small one a bit like Ruel Fox. "But he is quick and has a great left foot. "And when Ricardo starts talking about him being a good player then you take notice."
