Midfielder facing further three months out

Tranmere Rovers midfielder John Mullin is likely to sidelined for a further three months. Mullin had ankle surgery this week and although that was a success, the operation revealed damaged ligaments. Doctors have repaired the damage but the 32-year-old is facing being out of action for the rest of the year. Manager Ronnie Moore is disappointed for Mullin, who made over 40 appearances for the Prenton Park club last season.

Bad luck

"John's had a run of bad luck since he came back in the summer and to be fair he carried injuries through a lot of last season," Moore told the Liverpool Daily Post. "The operation on the original ankle problem this week was successful but they also found damage to the ligaments. They had to reconstruct the ligaments. "It could be three months before he is playing again, although (physio) Les Parry says it might be sooner. "At least when John comes back, it will be like having a new player."
