Wilhelmsson joins Al-Hilal from Nantes

Sweden international Christian Wilhelmsson has left Nantes to link up with Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal. Wilhelmsson revealed last month that he was looking for a new club despite having one year left on his contract with Nantes. He joined the French side in 2006 but never established himself as a regular and has spent much of the last two seasons out on loan. The 28-year-old midfielder moved to Bolton on a temporary deal last summer before spending the second half of the season at Deportivo La Coruna. He was linked with a possible move to West Ham earlier in the transfer window but has now signed for the Saudi Premier League champions. Wilhelmsson was in Sweden's squad for Euro 2008 but he only appeared in their opening group game against Greece before suffering a thigh injury.
