Davies looks to tighten up at the back

League Two outfit Chester are running the rule over Simon Grand and Alex Bentley. The Blues are keen to bolster their defensive options and see the duo as potential new recruits. It is easy to see why boss Simon Davies is so keen to add some steel at the back, with Chester having conceded 14 goals in their opening six league games this season. Defender Grand, who is able to operate as a centre-half or a left-back, has previously turned out for Rochdale, Carlisle and Grimsby. He caught the eye in a behind-closed-doors friendly with Wrexham recently, helping the Blues to a 3-2 win. Meanwhile, goalkeeper Bentley would be brought in to provide competition to the club's only recognised shot-stopper John Danby.
