Latvian midfielder sees loan deal terminated

Derby boss Nigel Clough has begun the restructuring of his squad by terminating Andrejs Pereplotkins' loan deal. The Latvia international penned a season-long agreement with the Rams in July, but has seen that contract ripped up. He now returns to parent club Skonto Riga after making just three appearances in England. Pereplotkins was one of 13 signings made by former Pride Park boss Paul Jewell over the summer, but had not featured for the club since a 1-1 draw with Bristol City at Ashton Gate on 16th August. Keen to trim his squad and bring his own fresh faces on board, Clough has decided that a parting of ways is the best course of action for all concerned. "It was felt to be in the best interests of all parties. Andrejs was not getting the game-time his club wanted him to get," said Derby's chairman of football Adam Pearson. "The manager feels we have got plenty of cover in that department. "He feels far more comfortable dealing with a normal-sized squad and is keen to reduce the numbers, so it is part of that exercise."
