Bulgarian ready for contract talks

Aston Villa star Stiliyan Petrov has revealed he is ready to hold talks over a new deal at the club. Martin O'Neill has indicated he is planning to sit down with Petrov and discuss a contract extension. Petrov has shown his best form for Villa this season after a difficult first two campaigns at Villa Park. The former Celtic man has just 18 months to run on his current contract and he admits he would be happy to pledge his long-term future to Villa. "The manager has been talking about doing it (starting talks)," said Petrov. "I am happy. I am one of the boys who if the club feel I am doing well, they will sit and talk to me. If not then my life will keep going. I will not bury my head. I will keep working. "We will see what happens. "People know me and they know that I have always been an honest boy. "The manager knows that when I play for somebody, then they will be the first choice of the club that I talk to."

Exit

Meanwhile, Villa youngster Zoltan Stieber has left the club to join German side TuS Koblenz. The Hungarian youth international had been on trial at Koblenz and the club have moved to sign Stieber on a permanent basis.
