McParland worried about how to replace veteran defender

Ian McParland concedes Notts County face a battle to replace Michael Johnson next season. The veteran defender is planning to retire at the end of the campaign and will leave a huge void in the Magpies' squad. Meadow Lane chief McParland is on the look-out for a suitable replacement, but acknowledged the difficulty in finding someone with Johnson's leadership qualities. "He is such an important player for us and he will be difficult to replace. Even when he has bad games, he is still a leader on the field and he has such a presence," said McParland. "He was a big miss for us when he was out injured. When he was out with his toe it coincided with a very bad run for us. "As I said, it will be difficult to replace him ,but we have to get out there and see what we can bring in."
